Mother Knows Best

Have you ever experienced a cold and flu season where it seemed that no matter how hard you tried to avoid being overcome by it, you inevitably found yourself sick. That is where we've been this Winter.

The past few years hadn't been too bad. A cough here - a runny nose there. Nothing major, really.

The first week of December 2012 found us coughing and feeling a little weak. Before we could rest and rejuvenate - one by one we developed flu symptoms. Since that time, we have fought seemingly everything. I think everyone around us have found themselves in the same situation. Something new seems to develop and make its merry little way through the household. Even as I type this, I am wondering what my slight headache and achy feeling may be telling me.

When I was younger, I would hide from my mother the fact that I was sick or getting sick. I couldn't stand to take medicine. I muffled my coughs and didn't complain. Eventually she would hear the terrible sound of my hacking and wheezing. I would end up more sick than if I would have just taken medicine.

It's funny, because she always had Robitussin on hand. As a child, I didn't want anything to do with it! I even purposed in my mind that I would not have that in my house. Years later and a little wiser - guess what I have. My medicine cabinet always contains various Robitussin medications. Cough and Chest Congestion DM, Cold and Flu... it's in there! Why? Well, because it works for me! I found that truth out the first time I was sick in college. What had my mother made sure was in my First Aid box? Yes. Robitussin.  It worked and it kind of made me feel at home.  I think it's good to keep your medicine supply stocked - because when you're sick, you may not feel like making a trip to the store!

* I was provided with Robitussin Cough and Chest Congestion DM as well as Robitussin Cold and Flu.
