The 2013 Kia Sorento was another amazing ride! My 5 year old son spent a lot of time commenting on the 'soft ride' as it 'made the road soft'. I guess maybe he thinks my personal vehicle isn't such a smooth ride? Well, he is right - the 2013 Sorento was a very smooth ride! I love the feedback that my children provide on the vehicles that I review. The comparisons they make and the features they enjoy are interesting to consider.
The Sorento is a fantastic and well designed crossover utility vehicle. I had assumed that it would be small and seat five people. My kids loved the fact that it actually has third row seating, which allows it to seat up to seven passengers. They spent nearly every trip in that third row. Maybe they feel a little too close to me most of the time in our sedan? I'm not sure - but I won't take offense. I remember loving the third row of my parent's station wagon!
The model we tested also had a panoramic sunroof. That was a feature I had never thought too much about. The kids really enjoy when a vehicles comes with a sunroof and immediately make sure that i have it opened when they sit down.
I am more and more preferring vehicles with a sleek profile and swept-back lines. The 2013 Kia Sorento has just that! Something about these features make the vehicles appear in motion while sitting idle.
The stitched leather seating was one of my favorite aspects. It adds to that sleek feel and appearnce of vehicle! Honestly though, the seat warmers were my absolute favorite this time. Maybe that is because I reviewed this during the Winter? It could be because everyday that I test drove the Sorento - the weather wasn't cooperative and it was freezing outside. Either way, the seat warmer and I became well acquainted.
"An impressive slate of technology features also come standard, including an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system with SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, auxiliary and USB audio input jacks for connecting personal MP3 players, and Bluetooth® wireless technology connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls to enable hands-free operation for all compatible mobile phones. Standard equipment on EX models such as UVO Powered by Microsoft, push button-start ignition with smart key and rear sonar back-up sensors, rear view back-up cameras and air ionization purification technology complete the modern and high-tech driving experience."
Most important on the list of vehicles inclusions are the safety features! Maybe it is just the mother in me - but I consider these staples more and more with each vehicle that may family steps into.
"All trims come outfitted with driver and passenger advanced front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, first and second row side curtain airbags and front active headrests, four-wheel Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD). Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC) also come standard on all models, the former assisting in preventing the vehicle from rolling backward when trying to pull away from an uphill gradient, while the latter helps keep the vehicle moving straight and steady down steep grades."
If you're needing more space that a sedan or coupe - but aren't swayed on a minivan, the Kia Sorento would be a fantastic option! It offers more room than a sedan, smaller than a minivan and more space than a small SUV.
